Kia launched its first new electric car, which has a variety of interior options, impressive charging range, fast charging and a competitive price tag.

It is called EV6 and was developed in collaboration with all three studios in Kia's global design network (including South Korea, Germany, and the United States).

Owners can choose between two power systems-226bhp rear-wheel drive single motor or 321bhp all-wheel drive dual motor. In addition, three decoration levels are provided at the time of release, called Air, GT-Line and GT-Line S. High-performance GT flagship products will be added to the series later.

The price of the EV6 is competitive, the model price ranges from £40,945 to £51,945 (OTR), and the driving range between two charges is 300 to 328 miles. There should be no mileage anxiety.

EV6 has a cross-border design, with Kia’s traditional tiger nose face and stylish daytime running lights, a unique grille from the electrification era, a sweeping windshield, a striking rear waist, a rear spoiler, and 19 or 20-inch option alloy wheels.

The vegan leather interior emphasizes sustainability. The dashboard and center console are made of recycled plastic. Each car uses 107 500ml plastic water bottles.

The onboard technology is also impressive throughout the range, with a wealth of biological comforts to explore. These include (depending on the interior) a 14-speaker Meridian audio system, a smartphone connection via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, a head-up display, dual 12.3-inch touch screens with curved panoramic displays, wireless mobile chargers and remote parking assistance.

This car has the least number of physical buttons, which gives a neat and tidy feel. Instead, functions such as climate control, infotainment, and navigation systems are accessed through dedicated screens with tactile buttons. This is much simpler than a complex drop-down touch screen menu, and it will not reduce the driver's attention.

GT-Line and GT-Line S models offer rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive-the latter provides extra grip in poor driving conditions.

RWD EV6 can travel 328 miles on a single charge, and the battery can provide 226bhp of power output and 350Nm of torque. It can sprint from a standstill to 62 mph in 7.3 seconds, with a top speed of 114 mph. The AWD version with dual motors has a power of 321bhp and a torque of 605Nm. This means that the 0-62mph sprint time is only 5.2 seconds, and the maximum speed is 114mph. The AWD version can reach 314 miles between charges.

The battery pack is located under the floor of the cab between the axles, which not only opens up extra space in the cab, but also helps lower the center of gravity of the car. This in turn will have a knock-on effect on performance.

We tried the EV6 GT-Line S model with AWD powered by a 77.4kWh battery. The car is priced at £51,945, which not only looks amazing, but also provides matching performance.

The acceleration is very fast, and there is always enough power to overtake in a short period of time. Sport offers a variety of driving modes to provide a truly dynamic experience and greatly increase the throttle. There are also various levels of regenerative braking to capture energy, so single-pedal drive is possible.

The car is perfectly balanced on road B, where it can be released, on the highway, it reaches the national speed limit in the blink of an eye-just that fast.

The EV6's fine-tuned steering provides extremely high accuracy and agility for driving, and the suspension settings have been carefully designed to provide a more sporty driving experience.

Particularly worth mentioning is the new appearance of the infotainment screen, which has a modern, clear and stylish layout and design.

Thanks to the sound-absorbing materials in the doors, wheel arches, floor and trunk lid, the cabin remains exquisite and refined, with almost no noise filtering.

In addition, the speaker system can provide a clever active sound that matches the speed of the car, and the driver can choose from three levels, adjust the volume or turn it off completely.

There is plenty of space in the EV6 to accommodate three passengers in the rear seat-the absence of any central aisle is good news for passengers in the middle seat.

The EV6 can swallow 490 liters of luggage, and the storage options are also impressive-when the 60:40 split-folding rear seats are laid flat, this limit is increased to 1,300 liters. Since the subwoofer of the Meridian sound system takes up luggage space, the GT-Line S model has a capacity of 480 liters.

There is also a well-known front trunk or trunk, which can hold an additional 52 liters of kit on RDW cars and 20 liters on AWD models.

There are many convenient storage options in the cabin, including a large glove box, a huge central storage tray, front and rear cup holders and a charging board, except for the EV6 Air version.

Taking into account the family's rest and fear of mileage anxiety, the EV6 is an ideal vehicle for towing a caravan with a weight limit of 1.6 tons.

The safety features are also comprehensive, and as you move up on the decorative level, more kits will be added. Expect to see front collision avoidance, highway driving assistance, lane following assistance, lane keeping assistance, driver attention warning, blind spot collision avoidance, rear cross traffic warning and automatic parking systems detected by pedestrians and cyclists in small spaces.

All EV6 models come standard with a 5-meter long type 2 to type 2 charger and a type 2 to household three-pin plug charger. The car has an innovative multi-speed charging system that allows it to use a wider range of charging infrastructure. It is compatible with 800v ultra-fast charging and more mainstream 400v fast charging without any special adapters.

Stopped on the 800V charger, the battery power increased from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes.

Of course, there are other alternative charging options. It takes 1 hour and 13 minutes to pass a 50kW charger, or to reach 100% in 7 hours and 20 minutes using a 7kW household charger.

All in all, the Kia EV6 is a very impressive newcomer. It looks eye-catching, it's beautiful to drive, it's full of technology, and it provides a great driving distance between charges-all these prices will also attract some people's attention.

With Kia’s announcement that the EV6 is the first of the company’s 11 all-electric vehicles to be launched by 2026, more products will appear soon.
